Instructions to make Panchratna Dal:

  1. Take 1/2cup panchratna mix dal..
  2. Soak mix dal for about 30 minutes. Further, drain extra water. In a pressure cooker add soaked dal 1/2tsp turmeric, 1/2tsp salt and 2 cup water. Cook for 4-5 whistles or until dal cooked well. Do not over cook it..
  3. Meanwhile, in a grinding jar add ginger, garlic, chilli and a handful of chopped onions. Grind till paste. Keep it ready..
  4. Further, heat ghee and oil together in a kadai. Splattered asafoetida, Cummin seeds, green and brown cardamom, cloves, bay leaves and cinnamon. Saute for few seconds. Then add remaining onion cook until it become translucent. Add in 1/2tsp salt snd 1/2tsp turmeric stir and cook for 2 minutes..
  5. Now add in ginger-garlic-onion paste, stir and cook until it turn brown. Then add in kasmiri mirch powder, garam masala powder, Cummin seeds powder and 1tbsp water stir and cook for a minute then add chopped tomatoes..
  6. Cover and cook until tomatoes become soft and mushy. Stir often. Cook until the mixture starts leaving oil. Now add in boiled mix dal. Combine everything well then add approx 1cup of water..
  7. Cook for another 2-3 minutes Add in kasuri meathi, coriander leaves and 2tsp fresh cream. Cook until it start boiling..
  8. Panchratna dal is ready. Garnished with fresh cream and Coriander leaves. Serve hot with tanduri roti, naan, puri or rice. Enjoy 😊..
